behind the scenes. The staff at the Georgia
Aquarium was assembled from all over the
world—and I only met one curator who
came to the aquarium without any experience
working in a large facility like this one. I am
impressed with the energy and attitude of
the staff members. It was obvious that the
Georgia Aquarium highly values their team,
and encourages these professional aquarists
to be creative and innovative. I asked all of
them the question, “How did you get a dream
job like this?” The response from all of them
included a statement along the lines of, “I used
to have a few aquariums at home, and decided
to major in Biology.” All of them admitted to
being hobbyists at heart, and all of them still
have aquariums at home.
The Atlanta Area Aquarium Association
has planned what will be an excellent ACA
Convention, and the opportunity to see
the Georgia Aquarium is only one reason
to attend. For more information on the
