Jack in Barcelona
Barcelona, Spain—home of the
only known white gorilla. Did I visit
the Barcelona Zoo to see “Copita de
Nieve?” Regrettably, no, there wasn’t
sufficient time. I was in Barcelona
for the SIZOO International Petcare
Exhibition, along with my good friend
of many years, Heiko Bleher, to judge
the discus on display.
The trip to Barcelona, by way of Madrid,
was on Iberian Airlines (excellent airline),
and after my arrival and a brief freshening
up in the hotel, I made the short walk to
the convention center. There was very

most of the activity centered around
canine products. However, one 10-gallon
aquarium stood out. Beautifully planted,
and with what looked to me to be very
small rasboras of some kind. I showed
